Site-based installation, The Someday Lounge, Portland, OR, 2010
Acrylic panel, acetate, wood, LED lights, controller, foam board, paint, H8’ X W8’
Built into an old brick doorway frame, this piece was installed in a restaurant lounge to suggest an extension of space through illusion created with light, color and perspective. Colored light shifted gradually over several minutes, changing the hue of the stripes on the panel. The door and hallway images were inspired by the famous Shanghai tunnels existing beneath this neighborhood.
